Hello, Wild Pretty Things!
After all the wishing and hoping it is finally here – Welcome Spring! For the Spring & Summer months I like to keep my lip products pretty simple, but still look put together. A nude lip is the perfect shade to accomplish this task. The search for the perfect nude lip shade is a never ending quest. This week I picked up 4 new shades from different typical drugstore brands. I thought I would try them out and let you know what I thought was the best option. There are so many different nude shades, so this will be a series that is always on the hunt for the best & most affordable nude lip.
I love when a lip color comes in a crayon like this! It is so much easier to precisely apply the product with the pointed tip of a crayon. I also really love the length and thickness of the Wet N Wild Megaslick crayon. It sits nicely in your hand and you can really control the lipstick. On my palm, the color seems like a pretty sheer nude color. The lipstick seems to go onto my skin smoothly and has a lot of moisture to it.
This shade would not stay on & it drove me crazy! Every time I would check a mirror it would be gone and I would need to re-apply. It says that it is a stain, but I wouldn’t call it a stain at all – it is a lipstick. I love how much moisture was in the product and it made my lips feel amazing! The lipstick was super creamy and applied like a dream. I really loved the true nude shade and just really wished it had better stay power. I also thought that the hue was a bit too light for my liking.
This color is much darker then the previous lipstick. The Maybelline Color Sensational went on much thicker and seems like it would have better coloration power. I love that this nude is a little on the mocha/ brown side. just looking at the product, I don’t really love the clearish pink lipstick cover. I think they could package the product with a little more thought.
Love that the color you see on the lipstick is the exact color that you apply to your lips. I have tried so many lipsticks that didn’t look the same on my lips as it does in the tube. I loved that it wasn’t a matte lipstick and it had great shine when applied. Like the last lipstick, this product was super moisturizing. However, the longer it was on it began to dry out a bit. Loved this pinky mocha nude paired with my fair skin.
The CoverGirl colorlicious line of lipstick is a solid favorite for me! I have never tried their line of nude shades before & I expected amazing things from them. This lip color is more on the pink side of nude. The color applied to my hand super smoothly and I really loved how pink it is in the swatch. The product felt really creamy when applied to my hand.
This lipstick applied super creamy and left my lips feeling smooth all day long. This shade was my favorite by far – The pinky hue to this shade accentuated my natural lips and made them pop. This is the perfect shade to pair with all the bight colors and patterns you wear for Spring & Summer. I got so many compliments while I was wearing this shade and no one could believe that it only cost under $10. The product does need to be re-applied, but even when it is worn off it leaves your lips with a light stain.
4. Rimmel By Kate in #113 Rossetto, $11
This Rimmel By Kate is so gorgeous on the stick & I was really hoping that it applied in the same shade. When applied to the top of my hand the color seemed a bit lighter. The lipstick applied very easily and felt super hydrated on my hand. Absolutely loved the packaging with the bright red. It stuck out to me right away on the display and was the first shade I grabbed. I have tried a red shade from this line and really loved everything about it – how it applied, how it stayed, the texture, and long wear.
Guys, I was so disappointed. The lipstick looked really sheer and didn’t apply evenly. The lipstick was pretty sheer and the color washed me out. This could very well be because of my super fair skin, but I just didn’t like it at all. It felt amazing on and remained on for a while which is great if you love the shade. Like I said above, I have tied other shades and LOVED them – This one was just not a winner for me.
The clear winner is the CoverGirl Colorsenations lip color. This line is one I have trusted for a while now and I am not shocked at all that this one was my favorite. The color was perfect to enhance my natural lips, added a little pop of color, and looked good even when it needed to be re-applied. The line comes in TONS of different colors. So even if your not looking for a nude, you can find an affordable shade that you love.
