Hello, Wild Pretty Things!
Where We Stayed…
Riviera Palm Springs Resort
Where I Ate…
The Tropicale was a super cute tapas restaurant that had a madmen vintage vibe to it. We got a few space plates to share – Loved the coconut jumbo prawn (below) & the arugula, beet, and goat cheese salad!
Mexican food is always a good idea and this place tuned out to be an amazing find! We got here and there was a live band tearing it up on the back patio. We were seated in ear range, at a beautiful tiled table that was nestled next to these gorgeous flower planters. There were these sweet little birds that lived in the vines and kept flying onto the planter and checked everything out – So cute! We got these GIANT margaritas that were dangerously delicious – One is blood orange and the other is hibiscus. I got a taco & enchilada plate that was enough food to feed an army. That being said, I ate almost the entire thing!
Pomme Frite French & Belgium Food
This little french spot ended up being one of the best dinners we had. Mostly because the restaurant was dimly lit, quiet, and only partially full – The perfect setting for some good conversation. Our waiter recommended these champagne cocktails, that I cannot for the life of me remember the name of, that were lemony & absolutely delicious.
One of my all time favorite meals from my childhood is my mothers strogenoff. Any opportunity I get to have it, I always take it. This was a beef stoganoff with broccoli. We got a Creme bulee to share and rolled our way home. Everything we had here I would highly recommend.
Before going to Pomme Frites we stopped at Lulu for for the fist time to grab cocktails. I had a cosmopolitan because I cannot even remember the last time that I had one. I feel like this was one of the drinks I would order right after I turned 21 – After hearing about these excessively on season-after-season Sex And The City.
They had a whole other cocktail menu that we did get on the first trip, but when we came back for brunch we were in fruity cocktail heaven. I stick with the pina coladas because they’e freaking delicious. My fiend, Tiffany, Tried a few of their margaritas – I taste tested them all and they were fruity perfection!
After a few cocktail, food became a must! I got a pea and Gorgonzola pizza that was so delicious and perfect to soak up all the cocktails. Their menu had a ton of options that sounded so good – I cannot wait to come back and visit again!
What I Did…
When were planning this tip, I turned to Tiffany and told her how I wish we had a convertible to cruise to Palm Springs in like Thelma & Louise. I checked out some rentals and found this super cute Audi that was the perfect girl boss ride for the trip. One of our favorite things we did was just cruising down the streets of Palm Springs with the top down, the sun out, and surrounded by palm trees. With some good music selection this is the perfect thing to do while in Palm Springs.
The Living Desert
The Living Desert is a zoo featuring animals from Africa and North America. They had tons of birds, cheetahs, wolves, and tons of other animals. I was most excited to see the Giraffes, but they were all way in the back of their enclosure and all you could see what a head come over a hill every once in a while.
The Living Desert also has large garden areas filled with beautiful local desert plants and landscape. Being the start of Spring, all of the desert plants were in bloom. I had no idea that the desert landscape was so colorful and gorgeous during Spring. They also has a butterfly garden that was full of beautiful monarch butterflies. All-in-all Palm Springs is desert landscape done to perfection.
I absolutely love bougainvillea plants! They come in all the most beautiful shades of red, pink, and purple and grow to make the most beautiful wedge ever. They are everywhere in Palm Springs and that was one of my favorite pats of the trip – driving or walking around seeing them everywhere.
No Pink Door
I was so excited to get to Palm Springs and finally take a photo in front of that gorgeous pink door. To my dismay, the new owners of the home no longer wish to allow photography in front of the iconic door. We had to respect their wishes and didn’t snap any shots, but I was able to find an older image below. It was fun to stop and see the super cute backdrop for so many previous bloggers.
Where I Shopped…
Headed from Los Angeles into Palm Springs, about 30 mins before you arrive in the dessert paradise, There is a huge outlet mall with all the big names you know and love. We stopped there on the way in and did some shopping. Stores that I loved were:
Kate Spade was running a 70% off sale that applied to EVERYTHING in the store. Picked up a really cute phone case and almost splurged on a new handbag.
LuluLemon had HUGE mark downs – I am talking legging for $50-60 & tops and bras ranging from $25-50. This were deals that I could just not pass up.
Palm Springs has a large community of elderly people enjoying their retirement. Because of this you can find tons of unique pieces at the vintage stores throughout Palm Springs. The Frippery is the perfect place to find something colorful to wear poolside. They have a lot of mod inspired cuts and patterns and tons of fun accessories.
Route 66 is a coll place to check out if you are looking for jewelry or collectibles. This place is a particular find if you are looking for cooper jewelry as they have a wide selection. If you are looking for previously loved designer items then Fine Art Of Design is a good stop. They are a consignment shop so you can score high end, luxury items for a steal.
