Hello, Wild Pretty Things!
There’s nothing nicer than when Spring and Summer roll back around, it’s a chance to get outside and really have fun after months of being cooped up in the house. If you are like me, you love a good wardrobe update. And when you’re into fashion, the warmer months are particularly nice as you get a chance to showcase your style and have fun with your look without having to throw on a big coat or layers over the top to keep warm. If you’re in need of a new summer look, here are a few things to pop into your basket for a wardrobe update.
Wardrobe Update: Clothing
Buying new clothes every season can be expensive, so it pays to be smart here. If you go about things in the right way, you can invest in clothes that look great now but can also be worn later in the year when the weather cools down again. Simple dresses will keep you cool and look cute now, but also work well paired up with leggings and jackets worn when it starts getting cold again. If you go with relatively simple staple pieces, they can easily be dressed up or down so you get plenty of wear out of them for your money- without feeling like you’re always in the same things. Check out stores selling Karma West Co and choose each piece carefully- go with items that will work with other things that you own. That way you’re not spending money on clothes that will never get worn.
In the carousel below, I have chosen some simple dresses that will be perfect for hot Summer days but will also pair well with tights and jackets when we get back into the colde months. The LBD below is one of my favorite comfy pieces that look totally chic. I also have some great light jacket like a staple denim jacket – The Free People military style denim jacket is making me feel some kind of way! Tons of other basic and Spring/ Summer Staples below. Wardrobe Update: Accessories
If you’ve gone with fairly plain clothing choices to keep your wardrobe versatile, the best thing to add some personality and style is to add accessories. Boho is very popular over the warmer months, add some stacked bracelets, feather earrings, a fringed bag and lots of stacking rings to achieve this kind of look. Otherwise, a statement item like a brightly colored chunky necklace or bag can bring a summery look to a plain outfit. Sunglasses and a floppy hat will, of course, make any outfit look suitable for the sunshine!
Wardrobe Update: Footwear
One thing that you will probably need to buy new for the Spring and Summer is footwear. Summer shoes and sandals tend to be lightweight and don’t last for long, so a good tip is to buy a few inexpensive pairs at the start of each spring and then throw them away early autumn. Even if you spend a little more here, chances are they still won’t last. Save your money for a good pair of winter boots which you will be able to wear for many years to come during the cold weather.
In the carousel below I have chosen some of the cutest Spring/ Summer sandals, mules, and wedges. Really loving the palm details on the Michael Kors wedges – So fun! Sandals and flats are always king for Summer. I love the winking eye design on these Soludos Espadrille flats. Wardrobe Update: Makeup
Finally, it’s not just your wardrobe you need to switch up for Summer but your makeup bag too. Swap heavy foundations for lightweight BB creams which will give you coverage but allow your natural skin to show through for a more natural look. Don’t forget to buy a shade darker if you’ve caught the sun. Bronzes on the eyes and cheeks give a stunning beach babe look and switch out the heavy vampy red lipstick for nudes, pastels, and glosses. Aim for a light, beachy look.
I hope that these tips help you in figuring out what piece you would like to add to your Spring/ Summer wardrobe. Until next time, have a great week WPT’s!
