An Evening With Interpol

“It’s in the way that she walks
Her heaven is never enough
She puts the weights in my heart
She puts, oh she puts the weights into my little heart”

I can still vividly remember the first time I heard Interpol’s debut album Turn on the Bright Lights. I was in Math class (Ugh, math) and turned around to my friend and fellow musically obsessed teenager, Sarah, who was frantic to shove her headphones into my ears and hit that play button. As soon as “Untitled” started with its rhythmic guitar and simply lyrics that manage to evoke a sullen assertiveness, I was hooked. The entire album reflects on feelings of loss and regret all with an overlaying feeling of hope.

So when I found out that not only would Interpol be playing at The El Rey Theatre (As far as I am concerned this venue is tied for best concert venue in LA with The Wiltern)  and that they were playing Turn on the Bright Lights in it’s entirety – I had to be there. Tickets literally sold out in 30 seconds, but I was lucky enough to score a pair.

The El Rey Theater is a gorgeous art deco theater and Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. The theater still holds most of the charm and character from when it was built in the 1930’s. The theater is super tiny which makes for amazing acoustics and very intimate concert experience. I have only seen Interpol in a festival environment (Twice at Coachella and once at Outsidelands) so seeing them at the El Rey was a borderline religious experience.

For Shows I like to keep in comfy but still have little fun pops! I will forever be a fan of sparkles and this beaded vest adds just the perfect amount. I have had this vest for a few years and it still makes me s happy when I wear it.  I couldn’t find anywhere that is currently selling beaded vests so I linked some really cute faux fur ones in the “Shop The Look” section below. I bought my beaded vest at Urban Outfitters a few years ago, so that’s a good place to look out for them.  Another good place to look for  cool beaded vest is at your local thrift store. Some of them can get kinda pricey, but every once in a while you find one for a steal.

The frilly shorts are from Zara and were perfect paired with the tights as it got a little chilly when we got out of the show. I paired it with this cute ‘kissy face’ printed tee and my favorite YSL hand bag. Accessorized with my fav sunnies and a simple necklace to complete the look.
