Have you ever looked at a photo of yourself and thought that you look totally awful? Don’t worry, even top bloggers go through this sometimes and you may feel as though nothing you do quite works. For me, one of the hardest parts about starting this blog was learning how to not look like a full awkward mess in my photos. If you compare some of my earlier posts with more current ones you can see that the quality of the photos and posing are worlds apart. With my tips below, you too can become more photogenic.
Determine Why You Look Bad
This may sound strange, but the first thing that you need to do is figure out why you look bad in that specific photo. You need to find out if it is the lighting, the fact that your eyes are squinted or even if it is simply the wrong angle of your face has been photographed.
Finding my best smile was the hardest part! Without practicing it can be hard to have a natural smile when being photographed. I highly recommend practicing your smile in the mirror and learning your best angles and how much you want to part your lips. Taking more selfies is another great tip! You might not always be able to find someone to photograph you, but a selfie is always an option. Photograph different angles and see what you like the best. When you are able to be photographed keep those angles in mind.
Another reason you might be self-conscious in photographs is your smile. I have always had perfectly straight teeth as a kid. However, when my wisdom teeth came out they cause one of my front teeth to become cooked. This small flaw made me so so self-conscious and I hated taking pictures. Another thing that you need to do is pose in front of the mirror. Just like we talked about practicing you smile, you have to do them same with you body. Try and stand in front of the mirror to find out what angle you look best in, and also decide whether it is your left side or right side that looks best. A typical face isn’t completely symmetrical, so it is more than possible for you to prefer one side of your face to another. It also helps to angle your body so you can find out how to position yourself for the most interesting shots. A 45-degree angle is a great way for you to get the best pose and you may also want to consider angling your face to see which side of your hair looks better as well.
Wearing the Right Clothes
Wearing the right clothes is a great way for you to feel great about yourself. You need to dress in flattering cuts while also understanding the body that you have. We all want to wear on trend pieces, but we need to choose trendy pieces that work for our own body features. This will help you to look your best and it can also help you to find out what you feel best in as well.
When you wear patterns, make sure that you choose them carefully. Different pattern sizes can change the shape of your body. You should play with different sized pattern in order to see what woks for your shape. Black can make you look thinner if this is a concern. If you feel as though you want to look bigger, or if you feel like you are too thin then consider going for white as this is a great way for you to really bring out your body shape.
