Hello, Wild Pretty Things!
Life is an eternal rollercoaster. One day, you’re surfing on luck, drunk with happiness and excitement. The next day, you’re hitting rock bottom and drowning in sorrows. In German, the word for luck, Glück, is the same for happiness. There’s something deeply true about it: People, instinctively, put the two together. You can’t be happy if you’re not lucky, and luck only happens to happy people. It’s an eternal circle of warmth and fuzziness until you accidentally step out of it and then you don’t know how to get back.
There’s, of course, no miracle recipe for happiness. But you can certainly try to find your way back to feeling good about yourself by making your own luck. How do you create luck? Luck is, ultimately, a positive outcome for an event, such as winning a bet for instance. However, you can forget gambling money or playing the lotto; there’s a safer way to manufacture your luck. You can create a win-like outcome in a situation where it was impossible to lose.
In short, when life gets tough, transform your life for the better by adding little touches of luck. It doesn’t matter how insignificant it might seem compared to the worries and fears you’re struggling with. A little luck can go a long way!
I need a new style
There’s nothing worse than looking at your reflection in the mirror in the morning and thinking “I’m not ready for a new day.” Most days, when you feel demotivated or too tired to think, you throw on whatever fits and hope for the best. Needless to say, you can end up looking dreadful and feeling the same. However, when you’re feeling at your worst, you need to make an effort and dress your best.
Your outfit can play a significant role in lifting your mood and creating that little glimpse of luck you need to get on with your day. Your clothes communicate emotions and energy, consequently wearing outfits you feel good it can reflect on your mood. You can also use safe accessories to transform a dull outfit into an instant mood-lift. An elegant piece of jewelry adds a little shine on what you wear while a pair of comfortable heels make you stand straight and purposeful.
When you’re feeling low on luck, it’s a good idea to grab a bargain in your favorite shop, using this online shopping guide to buy great outfits without breaking the bank. Something new is always exciting and will make you feel like a million dollar when you wear it!
Find little playful accents
Changing your wardrobe each time life disappoints you may not be practical. But you can still add some colorful touches to your everyday outfit to spice up your mood. You can decide to have your nails done – professionally if you’re not too confident about getting it right, or at home, if you’re an experienced nail polisher – with vibrant colors and designs.( Check out my nail art post HERE for some ideas!)
As a rule of the thumb, painted nails can last up to 10 days if you’re careful. So all you need to do is to decide what you want your hands to say about you during that time? Should you be a nature lover with some foliage decals and pop spring colors? Do you want to add a romantic touch with a heart design? Are you after a little glamour with glitter nails? The advantage of painting your nails is that it’s a temporary transformation that makes you happy but doesn’t require a complete change of lifestyle.
Move yourself happy
When you feel tired or sad, your walk becomes more sluggish, almost like a slumped gail. But have you ever thought that you could change the way you walk to make yourself feel content again? According to a study published in the Journal of Behavior Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry, changing your walk can change your mood.
This is a good thing to know, especially if you’re one of those people who doesn’t like exercising. As workouts have long been perceived as a mood booster, it’s helpful to realize that you don’t need to do more than adjust the way you walk to change the way you feel. According to the researchers, walking can be used as a therapeutic tool to break a depressive cycle. However, at a personal level, your happy walk can just the ray of luck you need to go on with your day.
Yes to chocolate
What do people crave the most at the end of a long and stressful day? A chocolate cookie! While you may not want to replace every meal with chocolate – even though cocoa has been proven to lift your mood in less than 3 minutes – there are still recipes you can try to bring happiness into your life. There are indeed such things as happy food which contain the optimal levels of vitamins and minerals to affect the production of serotonin.
You’ll be pleased to know that the staple Mac ‘n cheese – the homemade version – can boost your mood by improving your vitamin B intakes. For a healthier meal, try salmon and brown rice to adjust imbalance in omega-3 to regulate the mood. Ultimately, you don’t need to turn to sugary and fatty foods to see the bright side of life again.
My joyful bedroom
Your home decor reflects your personality. Needless to say, the dark and emo style may not exactly improve your mood. So how can little interior changes transform how you feel? By adding more light sources in a small room, you can create a sensation of depth, ultimately making the room appear bigger and fighting off the gloomy weather outside.
Changing your wall colors gives you the opportunity to add the hues that make you feel good, from bright pink to soothing green. And, finally, there’s one magical word when it comes to creating a peaceful and happy home, and it’s DECLUTTERING. If you keep clear rooms, you’ll rapidly find that your mind gets clearer too.
In the end, there’s, of course, no miracle to feel better and happy again. But, adding little touches of fun and colors to your lifestyle can go a long way!
